1. HIRE A REALTOR

Choose the best real estate agent to represent you in finding and purchasing your dream home and sign a Buyer Agency Agreement to work together. It is important to trust your agent, as you will be spending a lot of time together and your agent will help you with one of the biggest financial commitments you will make.


2. GET READY FOR HOME OWNERSHIP

Build a good credit history 

*Get mortgage pre-approval 

* Find out what type of mortgages you quality for 

* Consider hiring an attorney to review all contracts and 

agreements associated with the home buying process 

* Save up for a down payment (typically 10-20% of 

property’s value; if FHA-qualified, then possibly less) 

* Consider closing costs which can include taxes, 

attorney’s fees, and transfer fees 

* Consider utilities and monthly bills, such as 

homeowner's assessments. 


3. GET PRE-QUALIFIED

*Contact your mortgage broker or lender 

*The lender or attorney will run a title search to ensure 

there are no clouds on the title 

* Make sure you understand the financing terms-ask 

the lender for clarification, if needed.

4. VIEW HOMES & FIND THE RIGHT ONE

​​​​​​​Determine what is important to you, such as 

particular schools, neighborhood amenities, monthly 

mortgage payment, public transportation, 

walking distance etc. 

* Make sure you include homeowner assessments, 

utilities, and taxes when calculating the monthly 

mortgage payment 


5. MAKE AN OFFER

Once you have found your dream home, I will research market data on the home to help you will determine what to offer and we will present a written offer to the seller’s agent. There may be some negotiation required and the seller may either accept, reject, or counter your offer. When the seller accepts the offer, it becomes a legal contract.  


6. THE CLOSING DAY

The closing is the formal process of signing papers, paying fees and closing costs, and receiving the keys to your new home!
